Making Sense of Senseless Violence

Making Sense of Senseless Violence

This course deepens participants’ understanding of the connections between masculinity and violence, using school-based mass shootings as a focal point. Participants will explore how boys learn masculine norms, examine the intersectional roots of extremism, and develop a strengths-based approach to engaging boys as shared stakeholders in prevention. The course equips participants with tools to speak about male-led violence in a way that acknowledges its connection to cultural norms of masculinity while focusing on empowering boys rather than vilifying them.
